Busting forth!
The weather has been amazing! With a few warm days, we are seeing the first signs of spring. The Red Maples and Evergreen Pears are flowering. The Flowering Apricots are doing their thing and the bees are loving it!
[This is where there should be some pictures, but because the computer has decided that I am an idiot and won’t allow me to add 3 pictures in the same way I always have, you’re just going to have to come in and see these 3 great trees for yourself.]
RELAX! It’s not spring yet!
Lots of people have come in looking for a variety of plants and supplies. We have a ton of herbs and fruit trees. Veggies are starting to come in. However! It is still early in the year and some things are just not available yet. Basil is very small and needs to be kept warm. Tomatoes are starting to trickle in (we are ordering some of every variety available each week). A few peppers were available this week, so those are headed this way. If you just can’t stand to wait on your veggies, get them and put them into bigger pots, if it gets cold again (and it will), you can bring them into the house to protect them. It is too early to feed your lawn or get hibiscus.
Start planning your spring chores and any big projects. Bring in pictures or call Patty Banzhaf (281-414-8842) for an at home consultation ($50.00/hour) for your yard. Building new beds and planting sod are great projects for this weekend.
Mark your calendar
Between Feb 10th and Feb 16th come in to enter to win a 100 square foot veggie garden. Next weekend (Feb 16th), prune your roses then come by to see Randy Lemmon (10:30 to 12:30).
